The Charity Aims to:

  • Advance education in music and the arts for the benefit of the public of Leicestershire;

  • Advance the arts particularly, but not wholly, by promoting and facilitating access to and performance of music and other art forms; and

  • Help young people access extra-curricular arts activities.

 

The Trust actions its aims by supporting children and young people in learning to play musical instruments and to sing and to take part in ensembles and concerts.

MEET THE TRUSTEES

MIKE GRIFFITHS

Mike was involved in founding LMCT in 2014, having been associated with Leicestershire schools since 1982.

 

Mike has greatly enjoyed music throughout his life, and is passionate that all young people should have the chance to make music.

ASHA BISHOP

Asha is the Head of Music at Charnwood College.

 

A Violinist, Asha grew up in Leicester and benefited hugely from music opportunities provided by Leicestershire Arts. Following this, she went on to study Music at the Birmingham Conservatoire gaining a Performance Degree on the Violin and Piano.

MIKE STAUNTON

Mike has lived in Leicestershire all his working life, teaching in both the city and county, eventually becoming a Headteacher in the primary sector. He has now retired and continues to support activities that develop young people.

PHIL ILEY

Phil has lived in Leicestershire all his life, working as a police officer. 

 

Now retired and having seen the first-hand the benefits of music for young people, Phil became a trustee of LMCT to contribute to the development of music across the region.

ANNIE BANNISTER

Annie has been involved in music all her life, mostly choirs and choral societies.

 

She is particularly interested in the SEND world in Leicestershire and is currently Co-Chair of the Leicestershire Special Needs Transitions Group as well as being a past Chair of both Leicestershire Parent Carer Forum and East Midlands Regional Parent Carer Forum.

LACHLAN LINDSAY

Lachlan is an economic consultant who benefitted from Leicestershire Music programmes when growing up.

He is passionate about supporting wider access to music and ensuring continued tuition in "endangered" instrument families.
